Proper preventive care is essential for keeping your mouth healthy and avoiding issues like gum disease and tooth decay. At Genoa Smiles, Dr. Justin can provide you and your family with the care you need to keep your smile strong and beautiful. Call today to schedule an exam and cleaning!
First, one of our hygienists will conduct a brief oral exam, then clean plaque and tartar off of your teeth with a scaler. Next, your teeth will be gently flossed and buffed with a high-powered brush.
Once your cleaning is complete, Dr. Justin will examine your mouth. He may recommend x-rays if he deems them necessary, or if it’s been longer than a year or two since your last set of x-rays were taken. After thoroughly examining your mouth, he will discuss your oral health and any issues he’s noticed, and inform you about any follow-up treatments, if necessary.
This non-invasive, painless treatment consists of a special liquid or gel that is high in fluoride. Fluoride has the unique ability to attract minerals like calcium and phosphate to the surfaces of your teeth, which can help strengthen your enamel and even reverse the first stage of decay. The liquid is simply applied to your teeth after a cleaning, left in place for a few minutes, then rinsed away.
Dental sealants involve a special type of transparent dental resin, which is applied to the back teeth in liquid form. The resin is then hardened with a UV light, which creates a strong, durable barrier that prevents acid, bacteria, and food from directly contacting your teeth. This, in turn, can prevent cavities for up to 10 years with proper oral hygiene.
Periodontal care refers to treatments used to help halt and reverse gum disease. The most common of these treatments is scaling & root planing, also known as “deep cleaning.” This involves using special dental tools to remove plaque and tartar from between your teeth and gums where bacteria tends to collect.
Oral cancer screenings are part of every exam at our office. Dr. Justin will look for signs of cancer, such as abnormal lesions and patches of tissue, and notify you if any inconsistencies or potential concerns are found. This gives you peace of mind and ensures you get the proper care as soon as we notice a problem.
Teeth cleanings reduce plaque and tartar buildup, keeping your mouth healthy. These preventive appointments are also an ideal time to examine the health of your teeth and check for cavities, gum disease, and other common dental issues. Finally, teeth cleanings help you feel great about your smile, since we’ll clean away minor surface stains and leave your enamel bright and beautiful.
Most common dental issues like gum disease and tooth decay can be prevented with proper routine dental care. In turn, this helps you avoid other major oral health issues which could cause tooth loss, like infected teeth, severe decay, or damage to your gums caused by untreated periodontal disease. Seeing Dr. Justin for an appointment every six months will help ensure that your mouth stays healthy.
"This was our first appointment seeing the new dentist, Dr. Justin and the new hygienist. They were both amazing! Very personable, professional, knowledgeable, and just overall fantastic! My 9 year old clicked right away with the hygienist. Love the new coffee bar in the lobby! Who knew Dr. Justin was so crafty?!
Katrina does an amazing job with all of the insurance issues! She is very proficient in her job! Rebecca is another amazing employee!! She is very personable and genuinely cares about the patients!!
Do you need a new dentist, try Genoa Smiles!!"
"Dr. Justin has taken over from Dr. Dave. Don't worry, he provides the same excellent, caring service that I am used to having. He explains options to you and involves you in your care. He has just expanded his hours which really helps me meet my appointments. As a retired educator, he would be excellent with small children just starting at the dentist through post high school. I have friends that have already transferred to him and are very pleased. I drive 45 minutes to have him as my dentist. I know of others that drive even longer for his great dental care."
